I reported a phishing website to their abuse email (abuse at namesilo.com) and they ignored my report asking me to fill out some web form and provide screenshot evidence in attempts to suppress reports. The website is phishing on it's main domain, you don't have to look very hard to see it. All you had to do is complete a robot captcha, then you see a fake canada post webpage. When I pointed this out they demanded a webform be filled. ICANN rules state that you must have a monitored abuse email to take reports of abuse. This registrar refuses to follow the regulations and instead of taking reports via their abuse email, they ask you to make reports using a webform. By asking the user to provide screenshots as evidence, they put the complainant at further risk of being either infected by malware or being phished. I have reported to ICANN this registrar is harbouring criminals and refusing to take their operations down while ignoring their abuse reports received via their abuse email. If a registrar does this , why would any legitimate business want to do business with them? They are protecting the identity of international criminals. When you send an email to abuse, they state they need evidence of illegal activity to deactivate. I gave them the URLs to the phishing site that were phishing victims with fake banking and USPS sites. They know they are a safe harbor for criminals but profit is more important than moral ethics. As such, other registrars, including NameSilo needed to increase our prices as well. If you are able to find a better deal at another registrar, then we definitely recommend you take advantage of it. However, we only advise that you do thorough research into those prices to ensure you're not then required to pay higher renewals or pay additional for ICANN fees or WHOIS privacy.
