So I tried to post this here previously but my post was deleted

I deleted it, as, back then, your thread was essentially a support thread. I will leave this one up to inform other community members, especially given that I've seen multiple reports of potential nefarious behavior of the wallet recently.

Needs to be removed, they are selectively scamming and they have ads on google redirecting from their own domain to scam ones.

We removed it a while ago already. The OP is linking to a weekly discussion thread from a few months ago.

Oh, that's not some easily found thread... That's good then. (I found link to it on other "xmrwallet problem" thread.)

Sounds like you got scammed, my condolences OP.

Sorry to hear you lost your coins but consider it a lesson learned. Hopefully others will see this and use the official monero wallet, or at the very least third party wallets recommended by the community. Always always do your own research and verify what information you're being fed and stay informed.

Dude? Really? That website is an obvious scam. xmrwallet dot com stole your money. Sorry for your loss. Next time use a legitimate Monero wallet (view side bar).

[–]ughwtfnoway[S] 4 puntos5 puntos  (0 hijos)

Yeah, I use only the official Monero wallet since that case. I was kind of new to Monero at that time and didn't know that I need special keys to prove a transaction... And which wallets to use. With the official wallet I can always prove a transaction (if it was made from that wallet initially) and it works reliably.

Dude, tell me why in the hell you would use other wallet than official one ? I really don't see any reason to use other wallets. Why third party wallets do even exist ? I wouldn't trust them even if they had million years of good reputation.

Well, sometimes third party wallets have features not present in official ones. For example, there is no official wallet for Android, afaik. But I used Monerujo before and never had problems with it. I usually check thoroughly before using a wallet though. This time I screwed up... I just thought that a wallet that doesn't need installation would be convenient...

Using phone for transactions is a bad idea for most people anyway, who got bunch of "free" games installed. If there's no official android wallet then don't use phone at all, that's my advice.

Damn that sucks anyone had any bad experiences with cake?

[–]needmoney90 1 punto2 puntos  (0 hijos)

If you write down your seed, Cake works great. There was an issue in the past involving needing to recreate the wallet (something about data corruption?), but stuff like that is common for things in development. Rule number one, write down your seed.

Personally I have never had an issue with cake. I pop into their telegram from time to time and the developer's/owner are always happy to chat and answer questions, quite a friendly bunch. They also seem to be quite active in the community via Reddit
